Welcome to the Girlfriends’ Candle Co. blog spot! We want to share some tips and pointers about wax melts, and other products we offer, that we have learned over the last couple of years. With the first blog, we want to help you get the most out of your wax melts when it comes to your wax warmer.
We want to take a look at the type of wax warmer that you are using. There are generally two types of electric wax warmers available, plate warmers and light bulb warmers.
Plate warmers will give you a great and consistent melt right out of the box. They have a consistent heating surface that will evenly melt and keep warming your wax to release the fragrance.
Light warmers are great as well, but there is one thing that you need to take into consideration, the wattage of the light bulb that is included with your warmer. When you buy a wax warmer, be sure to check how strong that light bulb is. Generally, the light bulb included will be anywhere between 15-25 watts. These light bulbs will melt the wax, but they tend to run cooler than a wax warmer with a heating plate.
When the wax is melted at a lower temperature the fragrance released from the wax will not be as strong. You will notice that the fragrance does not go through out the house or space that you are using the wax warmer.
Melting wax side by side, a plate warmer and light warmer, the light warmer runs approximately 10 – 20 degrees cooler than my plate warmer. The light that came with the warmer I am using, is a 15-watt light bulb. Another thing that we noticed with the light warmer, the wax was much cooler around the outside of the bowl that holds the wax and was not completely melted. You can purchase higher wattage light bulbs either online or at a hardware store.
